CPR, or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is a procedure in which you basically try to restart someone's breathing or heart by manually compressing the person's chest and pushing air into the lungs by breathing into the person's mouth. The breathing portion of the procedure is known as mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Because an Emergency Can Occur Anytime . . .
The Heartstarter learning program can help increase the survival rates by training people just like you to respond quickly. The sad
truth is most people don't survive a cardiac arrest. Four to six minutes is the window of opportunity for someone to act before it is too late, but fewer than one-third of cardiac arrest victims get CPR from someone nearby. Join us on May 4th at the Cajundome.

If you belong to a group, club, or school organization that would like to participate in the Heartstarter event, let us know.
By volunteering, you will be helping to save lives throughout Acadiana, perhaps even a member of your own family. Help us achieve our goal of having the most CPR trained residents per capita in the State by volunteering for this year's event. Volunteers must be middle school age or older.
Support our Sponsors
For the 13th year in a row, contributions from our sponsors have enabled us to offer the Heartstarter CPR training FREE of charge to everyone. Please thank these sponsors and support them in the community as they continue to make Acadiana a safer place to live and work.
